Who builds Plagino
Plagino is built and operated by Research Crave, an academic-services business based in Birmingham, England. Research Crave has supported students since 2018. Contact us at [email protected].
Why we built it
Students asked for a way to check their own work before submission. Teachers and writing centres wanted a clearer way to discuss AI-assisted writing. A single overall score was not enough — it led to students being wrongly accused. Plagino shows the sentences instead.
How detection works
Upload a draft. Plagino scores the text sentence by sentence for AI-generated writing, then matches passages against open academic literature through CORE. You get a PDF report that shows which sentences look AI-generated and which passages overlap with published work.
Three scans a month are free, with no card required. Paid plans are available when you need more.
What the reports can and cannot do
AI detection is an estimate and can be wrong. A Plagino report is a prompt to review your writing, not evidence of misconduct. We show the sentences rather than a single number precisely because a single number gets students wrongly accused.
Use the report to find passages worth another look. Do not use it as proof that a piece of writing was produced by AI.
Who it is for
Plagino is for students checking their own work before submission, and for teachers and writing centres that want a calmer way to review AI-assisted writing.
